DONATION GUIDELINES:
Every student should have the opportunity to attend their prom in style. This community collective project will help several low-income households attend their prom at little or no cost. To be able to shop, students must be eligible to attend prom. A recommendation from a guidance counselor, as well as meeting the requirements for financial hardship.
If you wish to donate prom dresses, tuxedos, or suits, use this checklist to determine if the article of clothing is prom-appropriate:
•Prom, bridesmaid, or formal gowns, preferably long since short dresses are typically for homecoming
•Trendy and fancy, not older than three years old
•Cleanliness: Ensure the article of clothing is clean and free of stains and odors. Ideally, it should be dry-cleaned before donating.
•Damage Check: Inspect the dress for rips, tears, or broken zippers/straps. Repair any minor damage before donating.
•No long sleeves or heavy velvets
•Must appeal to students 16-18 years old
•Size 0-26+
•Shoes and soles must be in good to excellent condition and would complement a formal dress.
Items we will be accepting:
•Prom, bridesmaid, or formal gowns, preferably long
•Men’s dress shirts/slacks/ties/tuxedos/suits
•Dressy shoes in good to excellent condition
•Sparkly jewelry such as earrings, necklaces, and bracelets
•Small dressy handbags/clutches
•Shawls or wraps
•Dressy hair accessories
•New, UNOPENED makeup
•New, UNOPENED/PRICE TAG ATTACHED bras and shapewear
•Monetary donations: if you don’t have an article of clothing to donate, consider a financial contribution to help cover costs like dry cleaning or alterations.
